The album Aliens will be launched with at The Back Loft, La Cathedral Studios, Dublin, on Friday January 21st, with support from the very talented Amber Wilson from Aberdeen, Scotland, and a solo performance by Eoin Whitfield of Enemies. Entry on the night will be €10 which will include a copy of the album. Aliens will be in shops and available through all the usual download sites from Friday, February 4th.

Aliens is a collection of nine exquisitely crafted compositions that marry classical guitar intricacies with a contemporary folk delivery from the talented Dublin songwriter, a one-time member of Puget Sound & Terrordactyl, and currently guitarist with rock outfit Realistic Train. Recorded by James Eager (Jogging, Enemies, etc) at the Hive Studios, Owensie was joined by Andy Mooney (percussion), Mick Roe (drums), Julia Mahon (piano, piano and string arrangements), Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh (viola) and Paddy Dexter (cello).

Sean Carver - Alchemy of Skin

The Back Loft is delighted to host the first exhibition, in Ireland, of recent works by Cork artist Sean Carver, also a resident artist of la Catedral Studios. A graduate of the Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork & Limerick School of Art & Design, Carver's solo exhibition will also feature works that span from across the last decade.

Carver’s use of disparate imagery & fragments sacrificed from sketch books and works from over the years, have been sublimated into larger paintings. Thus creating a diversity of imagery woven within each canvas: featuring recurring motifs and sometimes religious undertones set against Carver's signature palette of sepia. The initial impact is visceral and stuns the mind, allowing a slow unfolding of a more rational communication as the forms and symbols emerge to reveal themselves. Carver’s work reflects the creative impetus to showcase honest representations of both the reality of his consciousness fused with his escapist unconsciousness. Each painting is a generation.

Established in 1948, Dublin University Photography Association (DUPA) is the photography society of Trinity College Dublin. We offer members the opportunity to improve their photography skills, while providing a forum for exhibiting their work. The annual Christmas Exhibition is a much anticipated event.

246 Letters is a play about love, war, and destroying all trace of people you used to know.
A new play written by Jane Madden, 246 Letters is the latest production from critically acclaimed production company Daguerreotype.
Staring Barry Morgan and Bri Fitzpatrick and Directed by Dan Bergin.
The show runs from November 25th to December 2nd.
